The First Tee of Miami-Dade Amateur
Golf Association
The First Tee Organization and the Dade
Amateur Golf Association have been prominent
in south Florida for decades. DAGA was
established in 1981 by Charlie Delucca
and offered year around tournaments for
young players in and around Miami-Dade
County. At the time it was considered
one of the most ambitious junior programs
in the country. With the joining of the
First Tee in 1997, this program has continually
provided junior golfers with numerous
events including the Dade Amateur Championships,
The Spring Break Classic, and most well
know, The Doral-Publix Junior Golf Classic.
This event is considered one of the largest
and most prestigious junior events in
the country and we have had the pleasure
of being their photographers for this
event, as well as others, for over eight
years. With the help of Vice President
Jay Miller, Charlie Delucca, DAGA, and
the First Tee, have helped the community
by holding numerous fund raising and
charitable events and are a great example
for all who wish to make life a little
better for those who might not have such
opportunities. I would also like to take
this opportunity to congratulate Mr.
Delucca on receiving the Gene Sarazen
Award from the PGA of America. |

PARS
The PARS organization,
with president Brian Rous, has been helping
young players live their dreams by
assisting student athletes into college,
and some going on to play Professional
golf, since 1995. PARS stands
for Parental Assistance Referral Service
and has a long history of helping student
golfers get the chance to play at the
competitive level needed to make it as
a collegiate athlete and even assisting
with financial aide and scholarships
opportunities. The PARS competitive events
are all qualifiers for the end of the
year championships. This year being the
14th Florida International Junior held
at the PGA Village in Port St Lucie,
Florida with each event drawing a great
field of national as well as international
players. Each of these events holds numerous
exemption opportunities for nationally
rank majors throughout the year including
Doral, Junior World Championships, and
Starburst just to name a few. Brian Rous,
and his wife Phyllis, have dedicated
their lives to junior golf, and the kids
who have passed through his organization.
We are currently working with Brian and
PARS for most of there scheduled events. |

International
Junior Golf Tour
Created in 1995, the
IJGT began with the sole purpose of
providing a means for International
Junior Golf Academy students to gain
competitive experience. However, the
IJGT has quickly developed into the
premier junior tour in the country.
In its first year of operation, the
IJGT held a total of eight regional
events. Just three years later, with
the popularity of the academy and the
addition of weekly summer camps, that
number increased to 23 events nationwide.
The continued success of the academy
fueled the tour and by 2002 the IJGT
conducted 45 nationally ranked tournaments.
Now in its 15th year, the 2009-2010
season will feature 70 events at some
of the finest venues in the U.S., as
well as tournaments in Canada and Scotland.
Most events field 96 players, drawing
from a growing pool of over 2,000 of
the world’s top junior golfers who
compete on the IJGT circuit, a representation
of over 45 states and 30 countries.
In addition to competing for individual
event trophies, IJGT players can earn
exemptions to some of the most prestigious
amateur events in the country including
the Players Amateur, Arizona Silver
Belle, Dogwood International, Rice
Planters Amateur, Monroe Invitational,
The Sally, Optimist International,
Verizon Junior Heritage and the Callaway
Golf Junior World Golf Championships.
Players may also earn exemptions into
various AJGA events. By competing against
some of the top junior golfers in the
world, IJGT competitors also afford
themselves the opportunity to be ranked
nationally by Golfweek and Jr. Golf
Scoreboard. |

World
Masters of Junior Golf
Las Vegas, Angel Park,
three beautiful desert courses with
one of the most elite international
fields in junior golf. What more could
a player ask for? The TaylorMade World
Masters of Junior Golf Tournament had
its inaugural event this past July,
2009. With a field representing over
15 different countries, 10 states,
and with more than 100 participants
in the first year, Marty LaRoche, the
tournaments executive director, has
great expectations for the years to
come. Looking to expand the field significantly
this year and with the addition and
full backing of TaylorMade, the World
Masters of Junior Golf will be one
of the must-attend majors in the country
for young players. Consisting of 54
holes of competition and a par-3 challenge
the day before play, its not only worth
the price of entry but its sticks close
to the Masters’ traditions and is run
very efficiently while still being
fun for the players. The par-3 course
is a beautiful lighted layout that
has replicas of some of the most well
known holes in all of golf. Eye-Deal
Swing was on-site for the first year
and we are looking forward to working
with Mr. LaRoche and TaylorMade again
this year, and for many years to come. |

Junior Players Tour
Richard Bowen and the
JPT have been influencing young players
through their dedication to the game
and its core principles. Integrity, discipline,
and honesty. Regardless of background,
it is the mission of the JPT to promote
and instill these values and life skills
to kids through the game of golf. With
the help of PGA pros, Renea and Charlie
Cowan, both in charge of tournament operations,
Mr. Bowen has developed, over the past
ten years, a season long monthly tour,
at some of the best courses throughout
the greater south Florida area. The JPT
also gives exemption to the Florida Juniors
Tour and AJGA events through STEP based
upon course performance. We will be working
with the JPT at a couple of events this
year and hope for our relationship to
grow. |
